Sherlock Holmes is Back and Better Than Ever!

In my childhood home we had an impressive collection of books in the den; The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer, Gulliver’s travels by Jonathan swift but the ones that stand out the most to me are the Sherlock Holmes books by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Sherlock Holmes is the reason I enjoy the mystery genre today.  I love his deep, methodical and abstract approach.  He also is ‘technologically advanced’  for his time as he would send cables and used neat devices.   He also had a friend and colleague in John Watson, who was the perfect complement to Sherlock. John is logical, social and somewhat accommodating, which works well with Sherlock’s  deeply methodical, unsocial  and dogged determination to always solve the case (‘puzzle.’)

There have been many Sherlock films and shows over the ages but I’m particularly taken with the 2010 series on BBC aptly titled Sherlock. This is a modern day Sherlock Holmes who texts and has his own website site while still maintaining the essence of the original Sherlock Holmes.
